McCall Idaho e-newsletter of Art, Film, Theatre, Writing and MUSIC TOO?

PLEASE, let's support our local community by participating in what is offered.  Let's buy "local" when merchants make an effort to reach out for our business and when it makes sense!

Entering its 4th year of publication, www.mccallartmusic.com continues to be a voluntary and FREE offer from various individuals who create the McCall region’s art, music, film, theatre, reading, learning and related opportunities -- these events are for all ages of people both in and out of our community.  This is no easy task.  There is no real central clearinghouse for this information, and there certainly is no real electronic repository complement.  Existing and particularly the new, small businesses and entrepreneurial individuals making varied efforts to bring more arts and arts education into our community have few options to support their needs to distribute their information more widely.  On top of these logistical “marketing” issues for both the profit and non-profit endeavors, it isn’t inexpensive for arts events to occur, both in terms of dollars and (if non-profit) the volunteer time required to create and to promote them. The challenges impede success, and "burn-out" from overwork/conflict issues cannot be ignored.

But these art, music, film, reading, learning, discussion and other related opportunities for all ages are a critical part of the balance in our community and region. The arts has proven its contribution to the local economy -- and to the diversification of the economy.

So, it seems that a moment of reflection and possibility is warranted at this point in time.  Please, look at the regions’ arts offerings a few years ago vs the wealth of options today.  Look at how that has developed and why.  Please, consider where we are today, who benefits, and if we would like to continue to go this direction in the future.  If we should continue, please consider what more we could do and what we could do differently (better) to ensure future growth of the arts community in the region.  Thank you.

(The McCall regional area has many events, learning opportunities, organizations and venues for the arts, music, theatre and the like, so if your event (and therefore your organization or business' web link) are not listed, it isn't intentional, just send along the info and it will be included.)
